Streamlining Data Transformation UI
Case study of how I utilized qualitative user data to drive design solution of simplifying UI workflows of a complex enterprise data transformation platform.
Target Users:
Data ProducerData Engineer
Data Scientist
UX Problems
The current data transformation UI has three major UX issues: 1.Data Sample (data rows) is not enough and biased; 2.SQL Expression builder is a single-line interface; 3.Real-estate of sample data table is hard to navigate.

Case Studies
User Interviews
In order to better understand our users' context and usages, my researcher and I conducted a dozen 1:1 in-depth interviews and multiple participatory design sections. We identified three themes to help solve the above UX issues.
Ideation Sketching
Based on the three UX enhancement themes, I sketched a lot of different design solutions.
Low-Fidelity Wireframing
Designer is also a visual communicator, I can't just use sketches to communicate my ideas, therefore, I created low-fidelity wireframes, to present different solutions to my stakeholders.
Final Deliverables
After collecting users' feedback and internal engineering team's recommendations, I modified my design, and generated the final high-fidelity mockups. I presented the final design back to all internal and external stakeholders, and delivered the design specs for implementation.
